Here’s the Ultimate N-Sider: Celebrating History Together

Two weekends ago, Nebraska players beat the odds, walked on clouds and made school history. The Huskers banded together, joined hands, knelt down and waited patiently. They knew their head coach would be rising up, keying in and flying high, so in the locker room, they hung on every word that Bo Pelini said when he led a celebration that honored history with joy and jubilation, chants and cheers, love and laughter, and energy and excitement.

The greatest comeback in Nebraska football history was achieved when the Huskers stared down adversity and refused to panic even though they were 21 points behind midway through the third quarter against an Ohio State team that has won or shared six straight Big Ten Conference championships.

Please consider today’s Official Blog as the Ultimate N-Sider, courtesy of a head coach who, despite what so many think, knows how important the 34-27 win over Ohio State was for Big Red fans as well. So come inside the Nebraska locker room and get a birds-eye view of your favorite team. It takes less than three minutes to understand why Bo, his coaches and his players are all about family, having each other’s backs and togetherness. If you think you whooped, whistled and hollered in the stadium, at a party or at home, watch a head coach dial emotion straight into the hearts of those in the room with him.

The regular-season process, of course, is only halfway home, but we thought you would enjoy seeing Bo’s “game ball” presentation. He pauses and sets it all up like a master speaker, even though you can tell the raw emotion is coming straight from his heart, not his head. I personally believe this quick video clip will help everyone understand the connection, camaraderie and chemistry between Bo Pelini and the team he prepares so conscientiously every single day. Just remember one thing after you finish watching this: May “the process” continue because there are still land mines spread out all over the place, all the way to The Heroes Gamethe day after Thanksgiving. Go Big Red!

Voices Across Husker Nation

Thanks for posting that locker room video, and please tell Bo thanks from a lifelong fan, season ticket holder and fellow teacher for sharing with us a little example of the love he has for his kids, his coaches, and his profession! That was probably the most awesome three-minute video clip I’ve seen in a long time! I will continue to fly my Husker flag proudly as I drive up Highway 77 again a week from Saturday for the Michigan State game. Please be sure to let all the coaches know there are plenty of us out here that support them and the kids and appreciate all the work they do, regardless of the win-loss record! Joann Kouba, Ph.D., Associate Professor, Dept. of Animal Sciences and Industry, Kansas State University, Manhattan, Kansas

Thank you very much for the video with coach Bo and the players. I always enjoy your articles.  Keep up the great work. GO BIG RED!!! Jerry LeFever, Shenandoah, Iowa

Having grown up in Massillon, Ohio, I was a big fan of Ohio State (my grandmother was an OSU graduate). My mother was a second-grade teacher and had former coach Jim Tressel’s brother in her class when Lee Tressel was coaching at Massillon. Until October 8, I had never pulled against an OSU team, but Nebraska is my alma mater and the Huskers are my team, so I was exceptionally proud of Big Red’s amazing performance. I only lived in Nebraska for my two years in graduate school there, but I came to love the school, the state, and most of all, the people.   There IS no place like Nebraska. P.S. Since I now live in Illinois, the Huskers joining the Big 10 is a dream come true. I enjoy your columns; keep up the good work! GBR. Rich MacMillan, Shorewood, Illinois

Just wanted to thank you for providing us the video of the scene in the locker room after the Ohio State game. It was great to see the camaraderie of all the guys and the sheer excitement of such a huge win. It’s something we as fans don’t get to see very often, and it was awesome! Jeremy LaSeur, Portland, Oregon

What a wonderful moment in NU football history and Bo Pelini’s team chemistry. I just don’t understand why some of that can’t leak into his relationship with the press and the fans. Len Olson, Rio Verde, Arizona
