If you haven’t checked the schedule, the Nebraska men’s basketball team is down to its last two regular-season games inside the Bob Devaney Sports Center – Saturday afternoon against Iowa and a week from Wednesday night against Minnesota – two border-state Big Ten rivals which will help the Huskers bid farewell to their 37-year home at the Devaney Center and, at the same time, clear the way for a new era beginning next fall at the downtown Pinnacle Bank Arena.

“We’re really appreciative of the support Nebraska fans have shown Coach (Tim) Miles in his first season here and the program’s last season in the Devaney Center,” said Marc Boehm, NU’s executive associate athletic director in charge of men’s and women’s basketball. “Sales were brisk this week, even though the threat of a heavy snowstorm forced us to move Thursday night’s televised game to Saturday afternoon. We’ve sold 10,500 tickets in advance, and we’re hoping for more sales online, plus a walk-up crowd Saturday.” For those who don’t buy and print tickets online, Boehm said Nebraska ticket windows will be open at 11:30 a.m prior to Saturday’s 1 p.m. tipoff. Ticket prices are $10 and $15 per seat.

Nebraska coach Tim Miles and senior forward Brandon Ubel addressed the media Friday at the Devaney Center, discussing the challenge Iowa presents (see videos at the top of this column). Saturday afternoon’s Nebraska-Iowa game will not be televised. “Changing the game day and the start time prevented another TV opportunity,” Boehm said, “but it created an opportunity for our fans to show their support for a team that’s worked hard and competed well. After this game, there’s one last chance, so we’re hoping to draw as many fans as possible as we close out our time at the Devaney Center.”
